Disney Themed Decor Guide

Decorating Kids & Adults Rooms In Disney Themed Styles

Disney World and the world of Disney films have enthralled and captivated people around the world for over 50 years now. While guests can visit a theme park to ride iconic attractions, see their favorite characters, and feel that unparalleled fantasy of the Magic Kingdom, many are mostly touched by the Disney movie franchises. Millions may never get the chance to step foot on the grounds of one of the actual Disney theme parks in California, Florida, France, or China, but Disney movies have brought the lands of enchantment and fantasy into reality for them.

Mr. Walt Disney, who many children nowadays do not even know is a real man, was one of the great visionaries of the 20th century. Starting with the first animated feature film in 1937 with Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, he then moved on from films to actually creating the Magic Kingdom in Orlando and the iconic Cinderella’s Castle with all the Disney classic characters like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald and Daisy Duck, Pluto, Goofy and more.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios adventure at the theme park shares many of the Disney animated movies and stories as well as live performances where you get to feel like you are part of the movies. This theme park is home to big name shows and movies like Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Frozen.

With literally hundreds and hundreds of Disney films that touch all different genres of adventure, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, animation, and animal-centered features to choose from, if you want to decorate your home in a Disney themed style you can have a blast! It comes down to whatever part of the Disney themed world attracts you and will bring joy into your home.

How To Decorate Your Home In Disney Themes

It may seem obvious to decorate a children's room in a cartoon Disney theme, but you can just as easily choose to decorate adult spaces in your home in Disney decor style as well. When homeowners choose to do this, the general consensus is to style each room in a different movie theme rather than the whole house in one theme (although that is certainly an option!).

• Design each room to represent one of Disney’s classic films.
• The goal is to step outside reality and into fantasy; to be transported into the world of your favorite Disney movie and escape to a magical land far away.
• Make it a goal to insert a little bit of that Disney magic in each room (the magic will be the feeling).
• To start the process, you can purchase Disney memorabilia and other decor items, or just browse websites for ideas.
• But most self-prescribed home designers make their own themed furnishings and decorations.
• Many say scouring second-hand shops and redesigning furnishings to fit their chosen theme is the way to go, only adding minimal prefabricated Disney related items.

Summary

As you can see in almost every example, home designers have taken a movie and used their creativity and imagination to transform a room in their home to look like a scene from a related Disney movie. Although you can absolutely purchase a few of your theme’s related accouterments, most of the decor comes down to picking a color scheme and continuing the thread throughout the room with window coverings, area rugs, and accents. Wall murals or wallpaper in a Disney movie style is also quite common. It all comes down to tapping into your inner vision and bringing your favorite fantasy to life!
